Santa Rosa Plum Tree
Santa Rosa Plum Tree
The Santa Rosa Plum Tree is one of the most popular and dependable Japanese plum varieties for home orchards. It produces medium to large fruit with deep reddish-purple skin and juicy amber flesh flushed with red near the pit.
Sweet with a bright, slightly tart finish, Santa Rosa plums are excellent for fresh eating, baking, sauces, and preserves. The tree is vigorous, productive, and known for consistent harvests year after year.
In spring, it blooms with beautiful white blossoms before setting heavy summer crops of richly colored fruit.
Harvest: Mid-season (July–August)
Fruit Type: Semi-freestone
Best For: Fresh eating, jam, baking
Pollination: Partially self-fertile (produces better with another Japanese plum nearby)
USDA Zones: 5–9
If you’re looking for a reliable, high-yielding plum tree with bold color and classic flavor, Santa Rosa is a proven orchard favorite.
